ASP.NET 5 is dead – Introducing ASP.NET Core 1.0 and .NET Core 1.0
No More System.Web
Last Week I was in a WebDev Camp by Microsoft, which was about the all new ASP. No ASP.NET 5 will launch this Year, Its now renamed to ASP.NET Core 1.0 which is open source. Yes you heard me right Open Source. So that’s a good news for Web Developers like me who loves Open Source Technologies, as Microsoft has confirmed that the new .NET core have support for NPM, BOWER, GULP, GRUNT and Nuget package managers.
So Microsoft is changing the name and picking a better version number 1.0
ASP.NET Core 1.0 is not a continuation of ASP.NET 4.6. It is a whole new framework, a side-by-side project which happily lives alongside everything else we know. It is an actual re-write of the current ASP.NET 4.6 framework, but much smaller and a lot more modular. Continue reading
